Two Common Waxbill birds keep each other company on a palm tree after a mutual cleaning session in Keauhou, Hawaii.

The Common Waxbill manu (bird) made a home in Hawaii after being introduced from Africa, their native land. These small birds were given their name for their orange bills, which are a similar color to sealing wax.

Eating mostly grass seed, they stay in elevations and wetter areas that support grasses, especially groomed areas in Hawaii like golf courses.

From the Photographer:

“This pair of Common Waxbills was particularly cute, as they groomed each other while sitting on a palm frond. I took a series of photographs which can be viewed on my Flickr site.”
