A fragile red hibiscus brightens visitors’ days at the Hilo Zoo (Pana’ewa Rainforest Zoo & Gardens).
The zoo showcases a wide variety of both fauna and flora. For a smaller park, they have a great selection of flowering shrubs and trees, including many species of hibiscus.
We particularly like this hibiscus for its extra-long stamen and uncommonly wide spread of anthers. To us it looks like fireworks at mid-day.
