Lahaina beach lounging ranks high on the list of both visitors and locals alike–inviting soft sandy shores, plenty of sun, umbrella drink in hand, and blue skies stretching out to views of Moloka’i and Lana’i make for a great part of any day.

The warm Pacific waters here are good for swimming, snorkeling, or gazing. The wind typically picks up in the mid-morning and goes strong throughout the afternoon until the calm of evening settles in.

In the summer, soft south swells bring in adequate waves for surfers and paddlers. In the winter, Lahaina’s shores are filled with migrating and birthing humpback whales. All year long, outrigger canoes teams practice and compete along the shoreline. It is a perfect spot to lounge around and take in Maui.

About Michael Keel

Photographer, Writer, Traveler and Watcher. Sharing how I see the world, and promoting preservation through my lens. "These images are seen through my eyes with the help of my camera. I do not manipulate my photos with graphic design wizardry and only 'develop' them from raw files, bringing out the colors that were captured, and the natural essence of the scene. My intention has always been to put the viewer in the moment, of actually feeling like they are in the photo, standing at the viewpoint, gazing, and leav ing it up to the viewer to interpret their own feelings. I want to find the camera angle from which this feeling can be the most that they can be – whatever that is."
