Christmas time in Hawaii means playing at the beach and, if you’re lucky, even taking a ride in an outrigger canoe. Although it is not known for certain, some think that Santa may use a specially equipped outrigger to get around the islands. It is even rumored that some have seen him catching waves on his outrigger to bring his presents ashore.
The water temperature drops a couple of degrees in December to a balmy low 70 degrees Fahrenheit…no wetsuit required. In this picture taken at Kailua Bay on Oahu’s windward shore, families take to the water for some Winter fun.
