On the northwest coast of Oahu, the Waianae Valley offers picturesque valleys to the mauka (mountain side) and great sunsets to the makai (ocean side).
The waves here range from gentle to pumping, but always make for a terrific view from lava-edged road shoulders and road-side parks.
Just to the north, past the point, is the town of Makaha and the Makaha Valley.
