The picturesque coastline from Kapa’a to Lihue is on the windward side of Kaua’i, making it vibrant with life from frequent rains. The rain and wind have combined over thousands of years to carve mountains with steep ridges and shores with soft sand. This lushness has caused the island of Kaua’i to be called “The Garden Isle.”
At sunset, a man on the point looks off into the distance. Oahu, about 80 miles to the southeast is not visible from the coast. Looking due east, there is only ocean for nearly 3,000 miles until central Mexico.
