The Rainbow Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus deglupta) is found throughout the Hawaiian islands with bigger groves on Maui’s northern side, Kauai, Oahu, and the Big Island. The rainbow eucalyptus is the only species of eucalyptus growing naturally in the Northern Hemisphere.

The wood is used for making paper from pulp throughout the world. In Hawaii it is mostly an ornamental tree found in parks and gardens. In Hawaii eucalyptus is called “Palepiwa,” which literally means “prevent fever.” It is called this because eucalyptus leaves were used as medicine to treat fever.
