Think of Hawaii and many of us think of waterfalls–just not usually right in downtown Waikiki. However, if you look hard enough you can discover many mini-falls inside the city. Used as landscaping elements on sidewalks and inside malls and hotels, mini-waterfalls like this one on Waikiki Strip give us a small version of the bigger falls found throughout the state.
This picture, taken during a recent photo walk, uses long exposure and a close up perspective to make us believe, if only briefly, that this waterfall could be tens of feet high and found in a tropical forest upcountry. In reality it is just a few feet high in a small feature. It is a relaxing and beautiful scene nonetheless. That is the wonder of perspective.
