Crimson Medinilla (Medinilla miniata) originally from the Philippines shows bright red flowers that hang from evergreen shrub. The tight bundle of flowers hangs from a single stem like a light chandelier.

This popular ornamental plant can be found throughout the tropics and is fairly common in Hawaii. Like many tropical plants, it requires a fair amount of rain, therefore most Medinilla are seen on Hawaii’s eastern windward shores and at rain forest elevations.
