Aptly named for its several long stamen, the Peacock Flower (Caesalpinia pulcherrima) is striking, even in Hawaii. This flower was photographed on Oahu’s North Shore where it was being used as a path decoration.

The peacock flower, sometimes called Poinciana, is not endemic to Hawaii, but is native to the America tropics and subtropics. It is actually the national flower of Barbados.
