We hear it all the time: “I left my heart in Maui…” And with scenic beach sunsets like this one from Kama’ole Beach Park III, it is easy to understand why.
The Kama’ole I, II, and III beaches in South Kihei on the island of Maui have wide sand beaches with typically calm waters and an abrupt drop off a little way off shore. This makes them perfect for early morning paddles, afternoon whale-watching, and evening sunset going.
In fact, the beaches often become lined with town-goers who temporarily leave behind the trappings of restaurants, shops, and activities to watch as the sun disappears into the ocean or behind Maui’s neighbor islands.
From the Photographer:
“Caught a little bit of ‘ehu kai in this picture, taken as sunset approached at Kama’ole Beach Park III on September 24, 2012. I left my heart on Maui in 2009, and have to return for regular visits!”
