In many homes in Hawaii the ornaments hung on the tree with care are similar to elsewhere–strings of lights, candy canes, heirlooms that have been handed down for generations. The tree though, is not usually your typical Conifer or Douglas Fir. Instead, a variety of tropical leafy trees take their place…anything from banana to bamboo to plumeria or fruit trees.
The effect and the message remains the same: green with life to serve as a reminder.
