Shades of Blue, Wide Open Hawaii Beach

Located on Hawaii’s Big Island, this beach has been blessed with fine yellow sand and a full spectrum of blues from the shoreline to the horizon and into the sky. Additionally, not a soul is in sight–making one feel either a sense of welcomed solitude or a tangible feeling of just how little we are.

As the water color turns from light aquamarine to midnight blue, the ocean floor drops quickly from ground level to thousands of feet deep. Inf fact, it is the dramatically deep dropoff on Hawaii’s coastline that affords these changes in color.
