Oahu’s north shore is home to many beautiful beaches, and in particular famous Waimea Bay at the mouth of Waimea Valley in Haleiwa.
Waimea Bay is known for its dramatically changing nature. In the summer, they bay is calm, offering relaxed swimming, quite walks on the beach, and cliff jumping from tall lava rocks. It shows a side of serenity and exudes a feeling of warmth. Then come the winter months. In the strong swells of winter, Waimea Bay transforms into the home of some of the biggest surfable waves on the planet. The shoreline disappears as thousands of tons of ocean water races up the beach only to be dragged back out to sea taking sand, road, and anything else in its way with it.
Today, in this picture, we see the inviting wonder of a Waimea Bay lava sunset.
