Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles Touching

Three Amigos – Sea Turtle Train

These three Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles swam up on shore to take some rest, apparently finding that laying on top of each other was the way to go. A lone forth turtle swam and ate in the background shying away from the friendly turtle train.

This scene took place among an estimated 15 sea turtles sunbathing and eating along Hawaii’s west coast at Kukio Beach. Hawaiian green sea turtles are unique among sea turtles in their habbit of coming ashore to dry out and take in some sun. They particularly enjoy spots like this with shallow, easily accessible tide pools where they can munch on algae and corals while away from any threat. The turtles will often come on beach for many hours at a time.
