Winter in Hawaii means big waves on the northern shores. This winter has not disappointed.
On Maui’s north shore a long exposure shot reveals a speckled ocean terrain–white where waves have broken, black where lava boulders rest underneath, and blue everywhere else.
The black rocks under the surface are often hidden from view. The waves pulling water off the rocks over time create a rare and interesting map.
From the Photographer:
“This weekend’s north swell has been a great subject for long exposures along the coast. Maui no ka oi!”
