Maui Ocean Sunset

Sunset Touches Ocean

Through layers of yellow and orange the sun dips behind the cloudless Hawaii horizon, touching the Pacific ocean on its way to bring light to Europe and Africa.

Being more than 2,000 miles from the nearest large body of land, Hawaii offers many unobstructed ocean sunset views. However, unseen clouds on the horizon typically appear at the last moment to hide the sun. On this night though, the clouds retreated, leaving the sun exposed until the last possible moment.
