Sabi Star in Hawaii

Originally from southern Africa and Arabia the Sabi Star, also known as the mock azalea or desert rose, this beautifully bright flower grows throughout Hawaii.

It requires very little water and temperatures that never drop below 50 °F. Hawaii’s warm climate rarely, if ever, drops into the 50s in the lower elevations.

You can see these blooms around town in landscaping and large planters. They are also used as bonsai plants in some homes and hotels.
