Plumeria Swirl

We have featured a lot of plumeria pictures here at Hawaii Picture of the Day. We love their strong fragrance, their simple look, their sparse-looking tree, and the way they bunch on branches or in leis.

This sunshine yellow plumeria has a contrasting red stripe on the underside of each of its five petals. When not yet in full bloom, this stripe gives the flower a red swirl that makes it look more like candy than a flower. When we were children, we can remember similar looking summertime treats sold from the neighborhood ice cream truck.

About Rob DeCamp

I am a professional photographer living on Maui, in the State of Hawaii. I made my living shooting weddings, but now have shifted my energy to nature photography. What started as a hobby, has now become my passion. I love to explore nature, and capture the ever changing colors and shapes that I find. No matter how many times I go back to the same place, it never is the same. The lighting, the weather all change to give me a different feeling. I think that is what inspires me to keep shooting!
