Looking more like a desert scene than ocean, the sun shines brightly through the horizon as it approaches Kaho’olawe, bringing the Hawaiian islet of Molokini into slight relief against the darkening Pacific.
Sunsets seen from South Maui meander between Kaho’olawe and Lana’i throughout the year as the earths position shifts several degrees from the north to the south as our planet makes its way around the sun. When this picture was taken the sun edged gently behind Kaho’olawe before disappearing from sight on a cloudless evening.
