Orchid Tree Flower

Messy Orchid Tree

A pink and purple swath of flowers hung low from branches of an orchid tree to fill our view delicate petals. We particularly enjoy the detailed white and pink veins that run through each petal.

These flowers have so many curves and twists that they could look a mess, but somehow don’t.

Orchid trees were introduced to Hawaii and make a colorful addition to the islands. Growing in wetter areas, the trees can take over a landscape if not kept in check. A hillside full of orchid tree blossoms sounds pretty good to us though.
