Laniakea Beach Turtle

Laniakea Beach Honu

A Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle rests on the soft white sand of Laniakea Beach on Oahu’s North Shore as the sun sits just below the horizon, painting the sky with a palette of pastels from yellow to light blue.

Ironically, Save the Sea Turtles International, a group dedicated to the preservation and conservation of the Honu, is located just a few minutes away up Oahu’s north shore.

The calm ocean in the background indicates that is picture was not taken in the winter when the water on this shoreline come alive with double-overhead waves known as some of the best in the world. Today, though, the sea turtle takes it easy and gets some rest.
