The Kapoho Tide Pools on the island of Hawaii’s east side offer some unique and beautiful snorkeling. The pools are shallow, sometimes just deep enough to eek your way through, sometimes up to 15 feet.
You can swim from pool to pool enjoying each one as its own ‘new’ place with distinct schools of fish and coral formations. There is coral found in these pools that is not readily seen on the more often snorkeled west side of the island.
The tide pools are protected from the open ocean by a barrier of lava rock some yards away. Get here early and you can be the only one in the water for a peaceful and fun swim.
