Kahaluu Sea Turtle

Kahalu’u Honu

A Green Sea Turtle catches some lunch and some sun at Kahalu’u Beach Park near Kona, Hawaii.

This park is well know for its easy to access swimming and snorkeling area. The coral here has thinned out some over the years, but the resident population of fish has remain lively and diverse.

Moss growing on the rocks and other detritus attract turtles in to dine. A long protective rock wall helps to keep the waves at bay and offers a safer place for sea turtles to rest while eating.

Some even refer to this beach as “Turtle Beach” because of the often-present turtle population.
