Hulopo’e Bay Wave Curl

A blue wave breaks while approaching the shore at Hulopo’e Bay, Lana’i, giving us the chance to see inside the wave curl–a brief moment in time sought to be seen by many. The yellow sand and clear waters at Hulopo’e Bay make it an ideal place to see inside waves while enjoying snorkeling and swimming.

Found on Lana’i’s south side, inside a Marine Life Conservation District, Hulopo’e Bay has been placed on many “Best Beaches in the World” lists over the years. This spot is where Four Seasons planted their famous Four Seasons Manele Bay resort, one of only a couple resorts on the island.

“The ruins of the ancient fishing village of Manele extend from the area just inland of Manele Small Boat Harbor to Hulopo`e Beach Park… Hulopo`e Bay has large tidepools at its left point. A shallow reef is just offshore, providing excellent snorkeling opportunities.” – Hawaii DLNR
