Hooilo House B&B, Lahaina Maui

Ho’oilo House Bed and Breakfast, Lahaina Maui

A little way up the West Maui Mountains near Lahaina sits Ho’oilo House, a luxury bed and breakfast with exceptional views of the ocean and neighboring islands Lana’i and Moloka’i. This finely appointed B&B and Maui’s warm sunsets makes for an appealing picture…one we see and think, “Yes. Yes, I would like to be there right now.”

Ho’oilo means “winter” in the Hawaiian language. Even in the winter the west side of Maui tends to be warm and dry compared to the windward side of the island, giving days full of sunshine to enjoy. Even though this is not the ‘windward’ side, Lahaina has strong and predictable winds nearly every day due to its position on the island and the channel between Maui and the neighboring islands. In the winter this channel teams with migrating humpback whales and their calves, adding to the allure.

From the Photographer:

Ho’oilo House B&B Lahaina. Awesome place… A great alternative to the big overpriced resorts. Live Aloha for a few days.

Photographer Steve Nelson captured a beautiful image of sunset on the pool deck: orange hues, cumulus clouds, palm trees swaying in the breeze, underlit pool, well lit foreground, and an interesting movement of eye.
