A variegated pink hibiscus with unique petals and signature long stamen flowers in the hills near Hilo, Hawaii.
The ample amounts of rain Hilo gets each month and warmer temperatures provide a great growing environment for spectacular flowers, trees, and other plants. The trade-off of course is that the sun shines a bit less often here…but it does still shine.
Many hibiscus like this one are non-native species that have been cultivated here or brought in from elsewhere. Hawaii’s state flower, the yellow hibiscus is native however.
