Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle

Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle

Known as a Honu in Hawaii, this green sea turtle looks up after nibbling on the algae.  Found in a shallow tide pool at Kukio Beach, many honu find their lunch and then crawl up on the beach for a nap.  It is thought that the turtles bask in order to heat up, rest and stay away from their main predator, the tiger shark.
