Kilauea Lighthouse Cove, Kauai

Kilauea Lighthouse Cove, Kauai

This beautiful ocean scene is the remnant of Kilauea volcanic vent on Kaua’i’s northernmost shores. The winds here are steady and strong and the lush greenery tells of plenty of rain. The steep shoreline and ocean winds have made this place ideal for a wide variety of seafaring birds and has been set aside as a National Wildlife Refuge.

This spot on Kauai is primarily known for the lighthouse at its northernmost point. Therefore most pictures of the Kilauea Lighthouse area focus on the lighthouse itself. This photo differs as it looks from the lighthouse grounds across the bay to the east.

This place and its surrounding area include the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge. You can learn more about the area, education, and community at the Kilauea Point Natural History Association.
