On Maui’s northwest side you will find picturesque Kahakuloa Village. Filled with about 100 fine residents, this isolated village sits at the base of the Kahakuloa Stream valley and has a small bay, a couple of churches–one Protestant, one Catholic–and a few small businesses and roadside stands.
The village is tightly hugged by steep valley walls and the road is extremely narrow in places. You can find a great overlook of Kahakuloa off Highway 340 (Kahekili Highway) near mile marker 15. You can see Kahakuloa, the bay, and into the West Maui Forest Reserve from here.
