Kua Bay Sunset

Kua Bay Sunset

Inside the Manini’owali section of Kekaha Kai State Park on the Big Island, Kua Bay is a spectacular white-sand beach with fun surf and fantastic sunsets.

The road to Kua Bay was dirt and rocky until a few years ago. At that time the beach was typically filled more with locals than out of towners. Now, though, the nicely paved path, parking, and small bathrooms have made the beach readily accessible to visitors and locals alike. Hence, the beach is now more crowded; however, it is just as beautiful as ever.

When the surf is calm Kua Bay offers good snorkeling and pleasant swimming. When the surf is up at all, Kua is great for body surfing and boogie boarding. Kua is good for picnics and sunsets anytime.
