Halawa Bay Overlook

Where Moloka’i island’s eastern road (HWY 450) ends, you’ll find the scenic Halawa Bay. Similar to Maui’s “Road to Hana,” the road to Halawa is narrow, winding, slow, steep, gorgeous, and worth every minute.

Although there are several scenic payoffs along the way, ending at Halaway Bay puts your trek over the top. This small river-fed cove looks to the northeast, toward the US mainland, which means nothing but ocean is in view for a couple thousand miles.

Looking back up-valley, you’ll see a tall waterfall where daily rains tumble over a giant cliff into the river below.
