It is hard to beat pictures of baby sea turtles. Here, a young honu makes its way through the shallows, getting a breathe of fresh air and looking for food.
With its maka (eye) just above the surface, it can see reasonably well. Underwater, where it spends the vast majority of its life, it can see extremely well.
Green sea turtles can live to be just a shade under 100 years old. The biggest ones weigh in at around 700 pounds.
Like other turtles, the Green Sea Turtle is a reptile, despite being on the “cuter” end of the reptile spectrum.
