Honu Ohana: Turtle Family Nap

Honu Ohana Nap

At the end of a long week we can all get a little tired. Here, a suite of seven Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (honu) nap together on the beach.

It’s not totally uncommon to see small groups of sea turtles resting on shore, but it is uncommon to see seven so close together. Due to ongoing and concerted conservation efforts, scenes like this are becoming easier to find throughout the islands as the sea turtle population rebounds.

Hawaii is one of only a few places where sea turtles sleep out of the water. No one is sure why they behave that way, but who can blame them for spending some time on world famous beaches?
